Design Dispatch
August 2021
Amidst the pandemic, Surface's beloved print publications were halted, prompting a shift towards the digital space. Tasked with this transition, I leveraged stories from the popular newsletter Design Dispatch, employing page tints, section dividers, and geometric elements to emulate the print publication's design within the social media context. As readers immersed themselves in Surface's print stories, the redesign incorporated lines to thread together chapters, forming a daily design itinerary.
A curated registry showcasing Surface-approved brands epitomizing innovation and craftsmanship, and offering a glimpse into the forefront of design excellence. To effectively platform these offerings, I engineered a series of GIFs and a bespoke template designed to echo the aesthetic of Surface's online newsletter. Through visually striking and engaging social media content, The List aims to captivate audiences, igniting interest among luxury clients in the design arena to join as paid members.
Miami Art Week
november 2021
In collaboration with Polygon, Surface's biggest Miami Art Week activation post-pandemic took to the metaverse with an immersive multi-day takeover. The partnership included salon-style conversations, a lightwave bungalow, and networking with artists, designers, and creators; it delved into the intersection of art, design, and WEB3, merging the conceptual digital arena with the distinctive aesthetic of the Surface brand.
Entrusted with the project's promotional assets, I assembled a single-line animation alongside a collection of banner ads and Instagram templates to drive awareness of the events hosted at the disco-inspired destination.
The approach of Art Basel heralded a fresh exploration of Surface, marked by their curated showroom in Miami's esteemed Design District, a zone renowned for its blend of luxury retail and art-centric culture.
Charged with defining the space's identity, I crafted the logo and creative assets, drawing inspiration from the Surface brand essence and the curated displays. The logo was conceived from the site plan of Surface Area and spoke to a space wherein the pages of Surface’s print magazine came to life as a tangible design experience.
